U10 Girls - Chicks vs U10 Girls Pelicans Tournament

The Chicks U10Girls first match saw them up against Norwich City. Much of the play was in the midfield and Norwich goal, peli's on the attack. A rock solid defence with Liv, Pip, Bridget & Harriet blocked anything coming for an excellent 0-0 draw.

Next up were local rivals Wisbech. Peli's flew out the blocks with Georgi and Poppy linking in midfield to supply Leni and Eve up front. Some classy runs from the two forwards saw Leni pass to Eve, to slam it home to cheers from the home crowds. Straight back on the attack Eve scored again with a nice solo effort. Liv and Elizabeth dancing in defence with excitement after that one. A third followed with Ellanie passing the ball up to Leni who touched it on to Eve to complete the hatrick! 3-1 win.

Next up North Norfolk. Pelicans saw off early N.Norfolk attacks with some nice tackles from Bridget and Harriet and goalie clearance from Liv to deny the visitors. Pip and Ellanie passing nicely to clear the ball up the pitch. Poppy and Eve linked well but couldn't quite score the vital goal as Pelicans committed players forward to try to win. In the dieing seconds North Norfolk raced forward on the counter attack and scored with the last touch of the game 0-1L.

Next up Magpies. Straight back on with no break saw the Girls fight hard for a excellent 0-0 draw. Harriet, Pip and Elizabeth with lovely runs out of defence. Making more use of the full squad Pelican were rewarded with a well earned draw against tough competition.

Into the playoff saw us play a 2nd Norwich side. Leni and Eve on the attack constantly peppering the Norwich goal. Excellent tackles by Harriet, Bridget, Pip and Elizabeth saw Pelicans go on the attack many times, driving forward with Georgi and Poppy from midfield.Result 0-0 .

Penalty Shuffles the crowd cheered!!! Liv stepped up as confident as ever to save 5 ...yes....5 straight shuffles! Norwich score first of sudden death shuffles, eek! The pressure is on! Bridget steps up needing to score to keep Pelicans in the match. Bridget stays calm with the Norwich keeper charging out...Bridget skillfully skip round the goalie and smashs the ball into the empty Norwich net, Boom! Still in it! 3 more saves from Liv and 2 from the visiting keeper leaves Peli's Ellanie with a mega pressure penalty to win the match in front of a packed crowd on the fences. Ellanie charges into the D from the whistle before the Norwich keeper has a chance to get near her and hits an early shot straight into the bottom left. Goooal! What a late late Pelicans win 2-1 sudden death Penalty Shuffles!! Well done Ladies!
